Fulham are reportedly in discussions with Sheffield United over the potential transfer of midfielder Vinicius Souza.
The 25-year-old joined the Blades last year and played a crucial role in an otherwise disappointing Premier League campaign, suffering relegation to the Championship. Despite the team’s struggles, Souza was a standout performer, featuring in all but two of their Premier League fixtures.
According to transfer reporter Rudy Galetti, Fulham has initiated talks with Sheffield United. An initial bid of €18m (£15m) was rejected, but the Cottagers are expected to prepare a new offer. Additionally, Italian giants AC Milan have shown interest in Souza, who Sheffield United signed from Lommel.
Souza spoke candidly about his time at Sheffield United earlier this year, expressing frustration over his inability to break into the Brazil national team. In March, he remarked, “My team doesn’t keep the ball much either. That’s very important for the national team. So it’s going to weigh a bit. And the players who went can defend and have the ball, so they can stand out more.”
A move to Fulham, who finished 13th in the Premier League last season, could offer Souza more opportunities to showcase his skills with greater ball possession. Additionally, Souza is not the only player linked with a departure from Sheffield United; defender Jayden Bogle is reportedly nearing a transfer to Leeds United.
