South Carolina Athletics, Knoxville,In the opening game of a three-game series against the Volunteers, Tennessee defeated the University of South Carolina baseball team 9-3 on Thursday night (May 16) at Lindsey Nelson Stadium thanks to four home runs.

In the first inning, Ethan Petry struck first with a single home run to left, his 20th of the season. After one inning of play, Christian Moore’s 25th home run for Tennessee tied the score at one. Moore and Kavares Tears’ home runs in the third inning gave Tennessee four runs.

Blake Burke’s RBI double put the Volunteers ahead 6-1 in the fourth, but Cole Messina tied the score in the sixth with a single home run over the batter’s eye in centre.

A two-run home run by Dylan Dreiling capped Tennessee’s three-run seventh-inning scoring. home the eighth, Dalton Reeves hit a single up the middle to drive home the game’s last run.

After four innings of work with five hits and six runs allowed, Ty Good was given the loss. In three innings, Tyler Pitzer struck out four batters. Messina scored two runs while Petry and Reeves each had two hits.
