To avoid relegation, the Blues must defeat the Canaries and hope that one of their opponents makes mistakes. Plymouth host Hull City, Sheffield Wednesday travel to Sunderland, and Blackburn Rovers face Leicester City.

If the Blues win, Plymouth will be demoted, unless they win. Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn are only in jeopardy if they lose their final-day games.

“If we win and other teams win, wonderful for them; they have done their job, just as we will. “Whatever happens will happen,” says Rowett.

“But I believe that if we win the game, we have a very good chance of staying in the division.” That is all we can concentrate on and control.

Rowett was brought in for an eight-game tenure to preserve the Blues from relegation in mid-March. While he has improved the Blues’ defence, Rowett has not been able to score as many points as he would like.

The draws against Rotherham and Huddersfield have left the Blues in need of a final-day snooker. Whatever the conclusion, Rowett will accept some responsibility.

He stated, “I knew the situation when I came in; I had a choice. As I’ve previously stated, the easiest and most reasonable decision in any manager’s career would be to avoid taking the risk on a short-term arrangement with no financial or career motivation. But sometimes you have to think outside of yourself, which can be difficult in football.

“And it was genuine: can I come back and help the club? I’d had so many enjoyable experiences here that I thought I was a good fit for the job, and I still do. And that was all. I can honestly say that, along with the people that have joined me, we have done everything we can to ensure safety in this sector.

“I’m still delighted to be in this position. I’d like for there to be a positive ending on Saturday, but in football, you can’t promise that.

“It would be quite easy in my situation to attempt to avoid responsibility, but I will always feel responsible. If we haven’t scored enough points after eight games, I will feel responsible. “I believe that is the right thing to do.”
