Coventry City sign defender Luis Binks on permanent deal
Coventry City have finalized the acquisition of defender Luis Binks from Bologna on a permanent basis, though the transfer fee remains undisclosed pending international clearance. The 22-year-old has committed to a four-year deal with the Sky Blues.
Binks had a productive season on loan at Coventry in 2023/24, featuring in 28 matches across all competitions and contributing to the team’s journey to the FA Cup Semi-Finals.
Manager Mark Robins expressed his satisfaction with the signing, highlighting Binks’ skill set and versatility demonstrated during his loan spell. Robins praised Binks as a reliable defender with adept ball-handling skills and noted his maturity and experience beyond his years. He expressed delight in continuing to work with Binks as he progresses in his career.
Beginning his career in the Tottenham Hotspur Academy, Binks later played for Montreal Impact in the MLS before joining Bologna in 2020. He made his Serie A debut in September 2021 and also had a loan stint at Como during the 2022/23 season, amassing 34 appearances.
Born in Gillingham, Binks has represented England up to the Under-19 level and is eligible to play for Scotland, having received call-ups at the Under-16 and Under-18 levels.
