Nixon’s post revealed that the forward is in talks with the German second division outfit, following an underwhelming stint at Ewood Park.
The 24-year-old joined Rovers last summer from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach last summer on a three-year deal, but failed to register a single goal contribution in 17 appearances and just two starts.
Rovers set to offload flop striker Semir Telalovic
Rovers will have had higher hopes for the forward who hasn’t been able to make an impact in the Championship when they recruited Telalovic from Monchengladbach.
The former player for Monchenladbach played in three Bundesliga games in 2022–2023; that season, he scored an amazing 15 goals in 29 games for Gladbach’s second team in the Regionalliga, the fourth division of German football.
The forward, however, is now looking to return home in the hopes of improved luck in front of goal after finding it difficult to adjust to the demands of English football’s second tier.
Since making a one-minute cameo appearance on April 13 at Elland Road in a 1-0 victory over Leeds United, thanks to a late goal from Sammie Szmodics, Telalovic has not played for Rovers.
The 24-year-old only played 297 minutes during the previous campaign, which is a big part of the reason he is looking to leave Ewood Park just a year after relocating to Lancashire.

Given his obvious lack of creativity at the Championship level, a Telalovic departure would not be too devastating for the Lancashire team; but, Eustace and company should still be eager to bring in new offensive talent this summer.
Rovers talisman Szmodics is being watched by Premier League trio Everton, Brentford, and Leicester City. Galatasaray, a Turkish Super Lig giant, is also reportedly interested in signing him, according to TEAMtalk.
The team should be eager to recruit a new striker even if the Ireland international stays at Ewood Park, as they don’t want to depend too heavily on the offensive midfielder for a second straight year.
Additionally, according to The Express, premier league newcomers Suffolk Town are keen to acquire Rovers forward Sam Gallagher as Kieran McKenna attempts to assemble a team capable of surviving in the Premier League after the incredible achievement of back-to-back promotions.
In 24 Championship games last season, Gallagher only managed three goals and three assists. However, it could be argued that his eight league goals in 2022–2023 and his nine goals the year before are more indicative of his abilities, and the Rovers won’t want to let him go.
In an attempt to avert yet another relegation struggle, Eustace will undoubtedly try to acquire a new forward this summer with Telalovic, but more importantly, Gallagher and Szmodics all possibly leaving.
