AFLW High Performance Manager Aaron Kellett provided insight into the progress of two players and their injuries.
Hawthorn’s Casey Sherriff is making good progress in her recovery from a leg and ankle injury sustained three weeks ago, while Bridie Hipwell is managing some lower leg soreness.
High Performance Manager Aaron Kellett provided updates on both players and their recovery plans.
Bridie Hipwell (Lower Leg) – To Be Confirmed (TBC)
Kellett noted that Bridie has been dealing with a lower leg niggle that they are managing. After a main training session today, they will have more information on how to proceed, especially with a congested fixture schedule. He praised her strong performance over the weekend and emphasized the importance of making informed decisions on her management moving forward.
Casey Sherriff (Leg/Ankle) – TBC
Kellett shared that Casey had her cast removed yesterday and has resumed training. She has a surgeon’s review scheduled for tomorrow to assess her wound, which will help determine when she can engage in more intense strength and conditioning work. Currently in a boot, she has begun partial weight-bearing activities, with the goal of transitioning to full weight-bearing next week and potentially spending some time out of the boot. This will provide a clearer indication of her return-to-play timeline, which remains TBC. Kellett expressed optimism about Casey’s recovery and the positive steps forward she is making.
