Heartbreaking: As Preston North End sweating on two critical injury concerns for Blackburn Rovers clash

Preston North End will be without striker Will Keane for their upcoming match against Blackburn Rovers, while defender Patrick Bauer is also doubtful due to injury. Bauer, who was substituted after an hour against Fulham with his arm in a sling, is unlikely to feature in Sunday’s game at Deepdale. This match marked Bauer’s first start since August last year after falling out of favor under manager Ryan Lowe.

Preston secured a victory over Fulham on penalties to advance to the Carabao Cup fourth round, but Bauer’s injury casts doubt over his availability. Manager Paul Heckingbottom expressed concern, explaining that the medical team acted swiftly to substitute Bauer. Heckingbottom said, “We need to assess him…The medics were not happy with it at all… I hope it’s nothing that will keep him out for a long time.”

Meanwhile, Will Keane, who sustained a hamstring injury during the international break, is also set to miss the Blackburn clash. Keane missed the recent 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough and was not involved in the Fulham match. Heckingbottom emphasized that the club will not take any risks with Keane’s recovery, stating, “We are not taking any risks with Will…It’s just a bit of common sense.”

Heckingbottom added that the injury is a low-grade hamstring strain and that Keane is undergoing controlled rehabilitation. Despite the absence of Keane and potentially Bauer, Heckingbottom remains confident, noting that the squad is in good shape and does not need to take unnecessary risks with injured players at this stage of the season.
