Heartbreaking: Eels provide injury update on Brown, Gutherson, Penisini

Trent Barrett, the head coach of the Parramatta Eels, has given an update on the health of injured five-eighth Dylan Browna and centre Will Penisini.

There are worries that Brown, who is expected to play against the Wests Tigers on Friday night in their season finale, may have suffered an ACL injury.

This might mean he misses the start of the following season in addition to the Pacific Championships in 2024 with the New Zealand Kiwis.

Should scan results reveal the worst, Brown might be sidelined for up to nine months while the team rebuilds under new head coach Jason Ryles’ direction.

“They believe it could be an ACL, but we really hope not. Barrett remarked, “He doesn’t come off as a tough kid.”

“Since Dylan has been amazing for us, we are a little worried. Let’s hope for the best for him. He’s a terrific young player and a kind guy.”

Dylan Brown, who the Eels believe may have suffered an ACL injury, will get scans.

Ideally, the penultimate step should be non-contact, with greater PCL/meniscus with the knee flexed into the ground and rotation. Yet in these situations, medical staff’s practical examinations are extremely accurate. Cross your fingers for him.tweet.com/GcEEQZRZOB

On Friday night, centre Will Penisini also departed the field. Barrett, however, stated that he has been cleared of any significant injuries, though it’s possible that he suffered an MCL damage instead of an ACL.

Daejarn Asi, the halfback for Eels, was the last player to leave the pitch of play, but he did so because he failed a health impact assessment rather than being hurt.

Barrett disclosed that fullback Clint Gutherson had sustained a quad injury and broken ribs three weeks prior, and that forward Kelma Tuilagi had played the game with a broken hand during his last press conference as the Parramatta Eels’ interim coach.

“Kelma played tonight with a broken hand, Gutho has got three broken ribs and a torn quad, and he has carried that for three weeks,” he stated.

“He deserves to be captain because of his accomplishments. Many individuals fail to recognise it, and if the club didn’t hold enough significance for them, they would have declined to play.”

For the Eels, Will Penisini was sidelined due to a left knee injury. Video raises concerns about an MCL damage because the tackler’s touch on the outside of the knee induces an inward collapse.
