The MLB paper champions are the Toronto Blue Jays. Regretfully, they don’t award awards for that achievement.
Ross Atkins, the general manager of Toronto, has amassed a wealth of skill. Additionally, he cut ties with a batsman who most likely would have helped the Blue Jays contend for the postseason this year. The Los Angeles Dodgers’ Teoscar Hernandez, who is in his contract year, has been on fire this season and is only one game away from winning his first World Series.
Before the 2023 season, Hernandez was traded to the Seattle Mariners for left-handed pitcher Adam Macko and right-handed pitcher Erik Swanson. Hernandez only spent one season in Seattle, when he slashed.258/.305/.435 with 26 home runs, so the deal didn’t work out well for either party. But he’s been reborn in Los Angeles.
Hernandez, 31, has raised his home run total by seven and his OPS by 100 points this season. In the Dodgers lineup, he has protected players like Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman. In contrast to his tenure with the Blue Jays, he is not underappreciated in Los Angeles.
Kevin Pillar, Teoscar Hernandez’s former teammate, criticises Ross Atkins and the Blue Jays
Kevin Pillar, a former teammate of Hernandez’s with the Blue Jays, is dissatisfied with the way the slugger’s tenure in Toronto concluded. Pillar has contributed significantly to Sportsnet’s coverage of the World Series in Canada.
When a player like that is in a setting like this and the Blue Jays management chooses not to bring him back, it’s unfortunate, Pillar remarked. I’m glad to see him succeed because I was once one of his teammates. If he wants to succeed, he’s in a terrific place.
Before the latter was moved to the San Francisco Giants, Hernandez and Pillar were together for almost three seasons. Pillar is familiar with the Jays organisation and still maintains roots in Toronto. It’s not very good.
However, Pillar was impressed by his old teammate’s on-field demeanour when covering the World Series for Sportsnet.
Regarding Hernandez, Pillar remarked, “I think he’s a tremendous player.” In addition to being a fantastic hitter (for power), Teoscar is also a cunning runner. He is among the guys who have five tools. His arm is incredible. He is capable of putting it out there.
Hernandez seems to be overlooked by this all-star Dodgers team. This winter, he will be compensated like a top-tier talent.
