HEARTBREAKING: Head coach Updates latest Hibernians injury as top goalscorer adds

Hibernian Head Coach Provides Injury Update as Top Goalscorer Joins Growing List of Concerns

Hibernian head coach Nick Montgomery has delivered an injury update, revealing that the club’s top goalscorer, Martin Boyle, is the latest player to be sidelined ahead of their crucial Scottish Premiership clash against Aberdeen. Boyle, who has netted six times this season, was forced off during Hibs’ 2-0 victory over St Johnstone last weekend, raising concerns over his availability for the coming weeks.

Montgomery confirmed that Boyle, who suffered a hamstring issue, is likely to be out for a short period, though the club is awaiting the results of further medical assessments. Boyle’s absence compounds Hibernian’s injury troubles, as they are already dealing with a number of players missing from their starting lineup.

Speaking to the press on Monday, Montgomery said: “Martin felt a tightness in his hamstring during the second half, so we had to take him off as a precaution. It’s always worrying when it’s a key player, but we’re hopeful it’s not too serious. We’re still waiting on the scan results, but it looks like he’ll miss at least a couple of games. We’ll have to manage his recovery carefully.”

The loss of Boyle, who has been a central figure in Hibernian’s attack, will be a significant blow to the team’s offensive prowess. With his pace and finishing ability, Boyle has been instrumental in their solid start to the season, and his absence will put pressure on other attackers, including Elie Youan and Adam Le Fondre, to step up in the coming matches.

Adding to Montgomery’s concerns, long-term absentees include midfielder Jake Doyle-Hayes, who is still recovering from an ankle injury, and defender Rocky Bushiri, sidelined with a knee problem. Both players have been out for several weeks, and their return dates remain uncertain.

Montgomery acknowledged the impact of the mounting injuries but emphasized the need for other players to seize the opportunity: “We’ve had a few injuries pile up, but this is part of football. It’s never ideal to lose key players like Martin and Jake, but it gives others the chance to step in and show what they can do. We’ve got depth in the squad, and I’m confident the lads will handle the situation.”

Despite the injury concerns, Hibernian will look to continue their strong run of form as they push for a place in the top half of the Scottish Premiership table. Montgomery’s side will hope Boyle’s absence is brief, with a busy fixture schedule ahead.
