Western Bulldogs vice-captain Ellie Blackburn will unfortunately miss the remainder of the 2024 NAB AFLW Season due to a significant mid-foot injury. Blackburn suffered a mid-foot ligament disruption during the final minute of the loss to West Coast and will require surgery to address the injury.
GM of Women’s Football, Patrice Berthold, expressed the team’s collective disappointment, highlighting Blackburn’s reliability and expected impact this season. The decision to proceed with surgery is aimed at ensuring a full recovery and a return to play for the 2025 season.
The Bulldogs will rally around Blackburn, offering support throughout her recovery to help her return at her best next year.
