Crystal Palace are making swift progress in securing multiple deals to bolster their squad, just two weeks into the summer break. This period is crucial for manager Oliver Glasner, who faces significant work to refine his team despite a strong finish to the season, where the Eagles won six out of their last seven matches.
Several players are leaving Selhurst Park as free agents, and some key players are being linked with lucrative moves away. With an already thin squad potentially becoming thinner, it’s essential for Palace to bring in new talent.
One signing appears imminent, with Chadi Riad set for a medical early this week, as confirmed by his current manager Manuel Pellegrini on Friday. Additionally, reports have surfaced about the substantial wages Palace are offering to secure a player highly regarded by Glasner.
How much Crystal Palace are offering Daichi Kamada
With Chadi Riad likely to be Crystal Palace’s first summer signing, Daichi Kamada seems poised to be the second. Kamada’s contract with Lazio expires in June, and given his previous working relationship with Palace manager Oliver Glasner, a move appears logical. Reports indicate that Palace have offered Kamada a contract worth €5 million per year (£4.2 million per year, or £81,893 per week). This substantial offer has reportedly made Kamada consider leaving Lazio, although he is still in negotiations with the Serie A club, with a decision expected by May 31st.
Securing Kamada would be a significant achievement for Crystal Palace’s sporting director Dougie Freedman and would substantially enhance the team’s attacking options. Kamada is a versatile attacking midfielder capable of playing in various forward roles, including the number 10 position, making him a suitable fit for the roles currently occupied by Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze.
At 26 years old, Kamada would bring a strong work rate to Glasner’s squad, averaging 2.1 tackles, 4.84 duels won, and 1.05 interceptions per game according to FotMob. These defensive contributions make him well-suited to Glasner’s high-pressing style. Additionally, Kamada is adept on the ball, with impressive dribbling skills and a chance creation rate of 1.4 per game. Despite a modest return of two goals and two assists this season, Kamada’s limited starts (only 17, with consistent starts only from April) suggest that his potential impact could be much greater if given a more prominent role at Palace.
