Breaking News: Huddersfield Town loanee Delano Burgzorg takes parting shot in farewell message

Following the end of his loan stint at Huddersfield Town, Delano Burgzorg sent off a final message.

After leaving German team Mainz, the 25-year-old played the 2023–2024 season on loan at John Smith’s Stadium. Despite making 33 appearances and scoring seven goals, he was absent from the club’s final two games.

On the last day of the season, Huddersfield was demoted to League One, even though their destiny had already been decided before they played Ipswich Town. Head coach Andre Breitenreiter was scathing of the team he inherited in the lead-up to the Portman Road visit.

Burgzorg seems to have addressed the squad criticism in his parting statement, as he made reference to a toxic culture in the Terriers dressing room. In an Instagram post, he wrote: “To Della, my final words. Thank you for your support this season; regardless of how you have treated me in recent weeks, I will always be grateful and will always offer my all.

Sadly, we were unable to finish, but @htafc will return stronger. UTT, best of luck in the future with the Terriers. PS: When the heat is on, don’t believe everything you hear if you haven’t seen it for yourself. You ought to stand by each other rather than turn away.

After leading Huddersfield for a brief while, Breitenreiter has already departed by mutual consent.

Sorba Thomas left the following comment on Burgzorg’s post: “Facts written there brother, good luck, see you soon.”
