Injury update: Surgery for Curnow as Blues confirm list changes

Carlton’s star forward Charlie Curnow will face a delayed start to the AFL pre-season after undergoing surgery to repair an ankle injury that cut short his 2024 campaign. Curnow had been struggling with the injury in the latter stages of the season, notably limping off in the round 22 loss to Hawthorn. He missed the final two games of the regular season and was unavailable for the elimination final against Brisbane, where Carlton’s premiership hopes were dashed.

The two-time Coleman Medal winner is expected to begin rehabilitation in the off-season and will return to training on a modified program. Carlton has stated that Curnow will likely start reintegrating into training by December. Additionally, teammate Corey Durdin will undergo surgery for a shoulder injury, with the expectation that he will participate in contact training by January.

This update comes alongside the news that Carlton has made several list changes, cutting five players, including forward Jack Martin. Other delisted players include David Cuningham, Caleb Marchbank, Alex Mirkov, and Dom Akuei.
