Preston North End interim manager Mike Marsh has stepped down from his role following a 3-0 defeat to Swansea City in his second game in charge.
After Ryan Lowe’s unexpected departure just one game into the 2024/25 season, Marsh was appointed interim manager alongside Peter Murphy and Ched Evans. The temporary coaching team managed a win against Sunderland in the Carabao Cup, but were comprehensively beaten by Swansea in the league.
Following the defeat, Marsh did not attend the post-match press conference, and it was soon confirmed that he would not be applying for the permanent managerial role or continuing with the team. PNE director Peter Ridsdale issued a statement expressing gratitude to Marsh for his efforts and announcing that the club will now focus on appointing a new manager or head coach in the coming days.
