Ipswich Town Eyeing Move For £24 Million-Rated Ace

After being promoted to the Premier League for the first time in 22 years, Ipswich Town will focus on strengthening their first-team squad to ensure their survival in the top division.

The Tractors Boys became the only club in over a decade, since Nigel Adkins’ Southampton, to achieve back-to-back promotions to the Premier League. Kieran McKenna’s team finished with the highest goal-scoring record in the Championship, trailing only Leicester City by one point.

According to sports financial specialist Kieran Maguire, Ipswich Town received £37 million in 2001/02 after being relegated from English football’s top tier. However, due to the financial development of the modern game, the East Anglian club will “likely” receive £150 million in the 2024/25 season, regardless of whether they remain in the league or not.

With this additional money, which appeared out of reach a year ago, Ipswich now has a little more wiggle room in the transfer market to bring in Premier League-caliber players.

Chelsea centre-forward Armando Broja is among those reportedly on the club’s radar. According to Simon Phillips’ Substack account, Ipswich is a potential destination for the Albania international, since Chelsea is willing to let him leave permanently this summer.

After struggling at Chelsea, the 22-year-old was loaned to Fulham. However, he has yet to score in seven outings for the club. He’s likely to quit the Blues in the coming months.

In January, Chelsea offered £50 million for the frontman with four years left on his contract. However, Transfermarkt estimates a current market value of £24 million, which may be a more accurate assessment of his abilities.

After a successful loan spell at Ipswich Town, Kieffer Moore has returned to Bournemouth, leaving McKenna in need of another striker. His recruitment has been spot-on thus far, so if he believes he can get the most out of Broja, the club should support him.
