Kevin Maher, the manager of Southampton United, was left lamenting his team’s lack of output after tonight’s 0-0 draw at Aldershot Town.
Despite applying increasing pressure to their hosts, the Shrimpers were unable to get on the scoresheet.
And Maher was a little miffed that he only managed to score one point.
“We had the ball, the chances, and the game under control on the balance of play,” Maher remarked.
Collin (Andeng Ndi) hasn’t done anything, in my opinion, save from the first minute, which we all contributed to.
However, it was a strong effort and another clean sheet away from home.
“All we wanted was a little magic or quality to drop for us in the last third.”
“We’re disappointed not to get all three, but it’s a point on the board, another away one, and you have to be happy with that to some extent.”
Maher was encouraged, though, by the Blues’ third consecutive clean.
“We aren’t having many chances against either which is pleasing,” Maher stated.
“The structure is good since we’re not hanging on in games.
In terms of our future organisation, we’re beginning to resemble ourselves more, but we intend to add additional objectives as we go.
“It is difficult to find a replacement when you lose Cards (Harry Cardwell), who turned 18 last year.
“We want to improve in this area, but we’re trying, and the guys up top do a fantastic job.
“We’ll keep looking but I’m sure the lads will keep working hard.”
