After defeating Sparta Prague handily in the Champions League, Manchester City will play in the Premier League again on Saturday.

With a 5-0 victory at the Etihad, Pep Guardiola’s team moved up the ranks in the recently expanded European competition.City made some adjustments against the Czech team in the middle of the week, but Pep Guardiola’s options are currently restricted due to injury.

Oscar Bobb is also a long-term absence, Rodri is out for the season, and Kyle Walker and Kevin De Bruyne are not yet healthy enough to play again. Additionally, Jeremy Doku and Jack Grealish were added to the injury list this week.

With Phil Foden, Savinho, and Bernardo Silva lining up behind Erling Haaland, the frontline practically picks itself. Despite taking a break in the middle of the week, Mateo Kovacic will rejoin the team with Ilkay Gundogan.

Josko Gvardiol will return at left back in defence because he has been a reliable player and missed the European success. Ruben Dias, who Pep Guardiola believes is an essential part of this City team, may replace John Stones. In Walker’s absence, Rico Lewis will continue to play right back, and Manuel Akanji, a Switzerland international who returned to the team in the middle of the week, was among the first names on the roster prior to his injury. Stefan Ortega will be replaced in goal by Ederson.

City predicted XI vs Southampton: Ederson, Lewis, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol; Kovacic, Gundogan, Bernardo, Foden, Savinho; Haaland
