Alfie May, the most prolific goal scorer in League One, intends to lead Birmingham City to the Championship while he pursues even more goals.

Earlier this week, Blues surprised Huddersfield Town, their opponents for promotion, by signing May from Charlton Athletic. May earned the Golden Boot last season with 23 goals in 43 Addicks games. She has scored 20 goals in each of the last three League One campaigns.

“I feel confident going into every game,” he claims. “I aim to score goals and be the best player when I leave the field. That is my responsibility, and Birmingham has brought me here to do that.

“My goal is to attempt to score more goals. Everyone assumes that because of my age, I’m getting older, but I still have a lot of years left and aspirations still to accomplish.

The primary objective of Blues for the upcoming season is to return to the Championship on their first try, and no one is backing down from that goal. An intriguing team is being assembled by new manager Chris Davies.

“I think the big thing overall is getting out of this league,” May continued. There are some major clubs in it, thus it should be one of the toughest League One leagues in a long time. It’s important to get off to a strong start in order to work toward returning to the championship, which is what we all want to do at this club.
