Dundee ask St Mirren to name their price to play v Rangers at their stadium instead
Dundee have been in talks with Hibs, St Johnstone, and St Mirren about hosting their postponed match against Rangers, as reported by the Scottish Daily Mail. The discussions even extended to asking St Mirren for cost estimates to host the game.
While the possibility of playing at a neutral venue has been raised, Rangers had already suggested this option in the past week, according to Philippe Clement.
The handling of the Rangers fixture by Dundee has left the club in disarray. The ongoing uncertainty surrounding the match is causing unnecessary complications and wasting time for all involved parties.
Despite Rangers proposing a neutral venue, Dundee’s hesitance has led to delays and logistical challenges. The match, postponed twice, is now set for April 17 at Dens Park. However, concerns persist due to the poor condition of the pitch and unfavorable weather forecasts.
Dundee’s indecision and reluctance to accept Rangers’ proposal have prolonged the scheduling issue, potentially affecting their preparation and performance in subsequent matches.
Furthermore, the SPFL now needs to explore alternative venues, which could disrupt plans further and require additional negotiations. Dundee’s initial refusal to accept Rangers’ proposal may also result in financial penalties and strain relations with the league and other clubs.
