The Jacksonville Jaguars may have at last discovered their man to help their secondary, but it’s not Stephon Gilmore. Veteran safety Adrian Amos, it is said, has signed with the Jaguars, providing Jacksonville with a bit additional defensive support. Amos played in five games for the Houston Texans after finishing the previous season with 23 tackles in 11 games for the New York Jets. Amos had been a starter for the Green Bay Packers for the previous four seasons, frequently with Darnell Savage at his side. Savage will get the opportunity to continue their collaboration in Jacksonville after signing with the Jaguars throughout the summer.
Amos and Savage were the best defensive backfield duo in the NFL during their prime in Green Bay. Every season they played together, Green Bay boasted a top-ten passing defense as they consistently vexed opposing offenses. Amos and Savage can ignite a Jaguars passing defense that ranked 25th in passing yards allowed in the previous campaign, despite the fact that it has been a while since they last played together.
How will the Jaguars do this season?
Jacksonville might reclaim its position as the best dog in the AFC South after collapsing towards the end of the previous campaign. However, that will rely on whether Jacksonville can keep Lawrence upright and whether Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars offense, one of the most dynamic in the AFC, can recover their magic.
Hurts hindered Lawrence’s ability to play out of the pocket in the second half of the 2023 season. However, given the additions the Jaguars made this summer, Jacksonville has a real chance to challenge the Houston Texans for the divisional title if Lawrence can remain healthy.
