Former Blues midfielder Andre Dozzell has joined Championship newcomers Portsmouth after leaving QPR at the end of last season.
The 25-year-old had been on trial at Sheffield United, where he scored in a 3-0 friendly win over Chesterfield last month. However, Dozzell, who is the son of Blues legend Jason, has now signed a one-year deal with Pompey, with an option for a second season.
Pompey boss John Mousinho, who led the team to promotion last season, commented on the signing: “Andre brings plenty of Championship experience, having spent the majority of his career at this level. He’s chosen to come here over other options and has a real ambition to succeed at this club. Andre is a very technical midfielder with the athleticism to cover the pitch and compete, so we’re delighted to welcome him to Pompey.”
Dozzell was released by QPR following a loan spell at Birmingham during the second half of the 2023/24 season. He had moved to Loftus Road from Town in the summer of 2021 for a fee of £1 million, triggered by a release clause in his contract.
