This summer, QPR has added a new match to their preseason schedule.
Marti Cifuentes and his team will host Tottenham Hotspur, a Premier League team, at Loftus Road next month for a tasty-looking preseason friendly before the Championship season begins. This has been confirmed by QPR.
Just three weeks before the Championship season begins on the weekend of August 10, Ange Postecoglou will lead his team to west London on Saturday, July 20 for a 3 p.m. kickoff. The club will announce the friendly’s ticketing details “in due course,” and information about streaming will be released shortly after.
After finishing fifth in the Premier League the previous year, Tottenham Hotspur missed out on Champions League football in their first year under Postecoglou’s leadership. The last time the two London teams faced each other was when the R’s were in the top division in the 2014–15 season.
Spurs won both of their matches that season, thrashing White Hart Lane 4-0 in August and Loftus Road 2-1 in March. In their most recent encounter, QPR star and former Tottenham player Sandro scored a consolation goal for the home team while England international Harry Kane scored a brace for Spurs.
On social networking site X, fans responded to the announcement of the friendly against Premier League opponents in a variety of ways. Some called it a “brilliant choice of opposition,” while others remarked “love it” and “sweet as.” “Marti expecting big things next season, I sense,” one supporter remarked.
