Key Ipswich Town man in line for three-year deal as contract winds down

Ipswich Town could offer three-year deal to 'keeper Vaclav Hladky

According to Alan Nixon, Ipswich Town custodian Vaclav Hladky is likely to sign a new contract, maybe for three years.

Last season, Ipswich Town achieved promotion from League One, thanks in large part to custodian Christian Walton’s performances.

However, an injury allowed Czech shot-stopper Hladky to join the team, and he has not lost his starting spot since. He has 14 clean sheets in 43 Championship games, but his talent on the ball has also made him an important player.

The 33-year-old’s contract expires this summer, but after such an impressive season, a new agreement is being considered.

Long-term deal is feasible.

Ipswich Town may offer Hladky a new contract at Portman Road, as reported by Alan Nixon on Patreon. The deal could be for up to three years.

That would keep Hladky on board until the summer of 2027, when he will be 36.

According to reports, the contract may be too tempting to pass up, potentially sending former first-round pick Walton out of the door in quest of a return to starting football.

A deserved contract for Hladky

Few expected Hladky to be so vital this season. Upon his return to fitness, many expected Walton to resume his starting berth at Ipswich Town, while the former Salford City player would play as a backup.

However, Hladky prospered in Walton’s absence, and he has since established himself as a reliable starter.

After playing such an important role in Kieran McKenna’s incredible season, a new contract is essential. He’s important in possession and has been active between the posts, looking like the ideal ‘keeper for this Ipswich team.

Hladky’s contract situation remains uncertain, although he deserves a new agreement with Ipswich Town.
