If the Nottingham Forest appeal ruling impacts the Premier League relegation race, Luton Town may have to pay an additional £80 million.
According to financial analyst Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider, Luton could suffer a “significant blow” from the appeal because they are attempting to construct a new stadium.
Earlier in the season, Forest was docked four points for allegedly breaking the Profit and Sustainability Rules.
The club made the decision to appeal the penalty, and the hearing’s decision is anticipated in the coming days.
Given that Forest is only three points ahead of Luton Town in 18th place, any modifications to the deduction might have a significant effect on the relegation struggle.
An appeal from Nottingham Forest might deal Luton Town an £80 million blow.
Maguire clarified that if the appeal’s decision decides the relegation struggle, it may also have a significant financial effect.
Maguire informed Sean Fisher of Football Insider that “you are looking at a reduction in TV money of £60 million if the appeal verdict has an impact on a club being relegated.”
You should also anticipate a drop in commercial income of £5 to £10 million.
know Brighton did an economic impact report last season which said that being in the Premier League was worth £600million to the city.
“So you’ve got all of these issues together.
In regards to Luton, if Forest’s appeal impacts their relegation then we’re probably looking at somewhere in the region of a £70-£80million hit to the club.
“Given that they are trying to build a stadium and improve facilities, it would be a very significant blow.“
