Koroiyadi thrilled to be part of U20 squad Taina Tuiwai

Simon Koroiyadi, a young forward, was ecstatic to receive a call-up to the Sports World Fiji Under-20 team, which will compete in the World Rugby Under-20 Championship in South Africa the following month. Based in the United Kingdom, the 20-year-old claims that his father Maku, a former Fiji Under-18 team captain, is an inspiration to him. Despite being accustomed to a different rugby style in the UK, Koroiyadi claims he is adjusting to Fiji’s rugby well.

Although it is obviously a different setting because I am from England, everything has gone well. The boys have been kind and we get along well with most of them. The training has also gone well, albeit quite hard. Since his parents are from his native country, the Lomaiviti boy claims that playing for his native nation has always been his desire. Knowing that many other players who are based overseas are interested but are unable to play for Fiji, Koroiyadi expresses his gratitude for the opportunity.

When he was thirteen years old, he began participating in rugby with the Leicester Tigers junior academy. He claims that watching his father compete annually at Twickenham Stadium for the British Army squad against the Navy served as inspiration for him. Phase two of the Fiji Under-20 team’s preparations is underway, and the final roster will be announced the following month. The team will leave for Cape Town on the 24th of the next month, and on June 28th, they will play their opening match against the hosts, South Africa.
