Kyogo Furuhashi is at the centre of surprising transfer speculation this summer.
Though he has had a great three seasons with Celtic, scoring 73 goals and dishing out 15 assists, there have been whispers of a possible return to Japan.
Furuhashi may be signed by the Urawa Red Diamonds, according to journalist Marco Molla.
According to reports, the J-League team and Celtic have remained amicable ever since their January 2023 conversations regarding Giakoumakis.
Furuhashi, who extended his contract with Celtic until the summer of 2027 last season, has been a vital member of the team’s assault under both Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou.
In addition to his outstanding domestic play, he has demonstrated his ability to score goals in the Champions League.
It would be unexpected for the 29-year-old Yogo to return to Japan, especially in light of his prior declarations of want to compete in the Bundesliga and other top five leagues in Europe.
It will be interesting to see if Urawa Red Diamonds’ interest turns into an official offer during the transfer window and how Celtic reacts.
