Chadi Riad will soon finish his transfer from Real Betis to Crystal Palace.
Before moving to Crystal Palace, Morocco’s Chadi Riad is scheduled to finish his medical in London.
The 20-year-old is getting closer to completing his transfer to Selhurst Park after Palace and Betis agreed to pay €14 million for Riad last week.
After only joining Betis on loan from Barcelona last summer, the defender is once again in the spotlight.
Chadi Riad, the new Crystal Palace player, is scheduled to finish his medical testing in London, according to Fabrizio Romano, who posted on X.com.
Last Monday, Romano posted on X.com to reaffirm that the two teams had agreed on a deal.
“Lead the way, Chadidi Riad, to Crystal Palace! Agreement verbally reached by the clubs over the specifics for €14 million.
Chadi will join the #CPFC and sign a five-year contract that runs until June 2029.
“Although waiting to sign, understand that medical testing may already occur next week.”
With two senior team caps, Riad is a Moroccan international. Under former Premier League winning manager Manuel Pellegrini, Riad played in thirty games for the La Liga team last season as they ended in seventh position.
Given the uncertainty surrounding the future of Palace captain Marc Guehi, the centre defender may be considered as a successor for the player.
Oliver Glasner took over for Roy Hodgson in February, and the Eagles ended the season well under his leadership. The Austrian managed to finish in the top ten, which is quite an accomplishment considering Palace was on the verge of being forced into the relegation fight when he took over.
Large Premier League clubs are vying for Palace’s top players, Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze. If they can hang onto them, a run at the Europa League may be feasible.
