Blues confirm further list changes
Carlton has confirmed a further three changes to its AFL playing group.
THE Carlton Football Club can today confirm a further three changes to its AFL playing group.
Sam Durdin and Matt Carroll received a train-on offer during preseason as part of the supplemental selection period (SSP), while Jack Carroll will leave the Club after not receiving a new contract offer for 2025.
Jack Carroll was chosen with pick No. 41 in the 2020 national draft and played 21 games for Carlton over the course of four seasons.
Carroll featured in 15 games this season, mostly in the midfield, after making his debut in Round 7, 2022.
Durdin, a 28-year-old who made 24 VFL appearances with the Club, joined IKON Park through the 2022 Mid-season Rookie Draft. He played in two senior-level games.
In the 2023 AFL Rookie Draft, Matt Carroll was chosen with the fifteenth pick. A chronic groin ailment prevented him from playing for the senior team in 2024, although he recovered enough to play in a reserves scratch match during the AFL finals series.
Nick Austin, Head of List Management at Carlton, stated, “Jack leaves the football club with lifelong friendships, which is a testament to the positive contribution he made to the group during his four seasons with us. We wish him well for the next opportunity in his career.”
Despite their injury struggles this year, we have respected Sam and Matt’s fortitude in continuing to lead. Both players have been asked to train with the team and compete for a spot on the playing list during the forthcoming preseason, even though they have not yet received offers of new playing contracts.
