Though Everton’s transfer window hasn’t even officially opened, rumors regarding possible departures are already rampant at Goodison Park.
Due to the Toffees’ present financial predicament, it is anticipated that Sean Dyche’s team would need to offload at least one of its biggest players by the end of June in order to prevent a possible point deduction for a PSR violation.
Jordan Pickford is another name being connected to the Goodison exit door, even though Jarrad Branthwaite and Dominic Calvert-Lewin appear to be the main subjects of the early transfer rumors.
The England captain may think about leaving Merseyside this summer, according to reports, and Chelsea is reportedly one of the teams interested in signing him [Graeme Bailey, 1 May].
In light of Chelsea’s interest, will Everton and Sean Dyche sell Jordan Pickford during the summer window?
In spite of these rumors, Fabrizio Romano’s update following Enzo Maresca’s appointment may have given the Toffees and Dyche a better chance of keeping the stopper this summer.
Romano wrote on X on Monday, June 3, saying: “It is understood that Maresca, the new coach of Chelsea, informed the board that he has a strong liking for Roberto Sánchez.
“Maresca, he feels Robert is prepared for the next stage of his career and is excited to work with the Spanish goalie next season.” This summer, Sánchez is anticipated to remain with Chelsea.
That statement makes it quite evident that the incoming Blues manager intends for Sanchez to remain his first choice goalkeeper when he begins his official tenure at Stamford Bridge this summer.
At his age, Pickford is not likely to accept a bench spot for Chelsea, so if Maresca wants to work with Sanchez, the England captain would have to compete with Djordje Petrovic for a spot on the bench.
With any luck, the Toffees and Dyche will be able to retain the 30-year-old at Goodison Park for the foreseeable future thanks to this update.
