Altrincham are demonstrating strong form as they gear up for the new season, with their frontline firing on all cylinders in recent friendly matches. Summer signing Joe Nuttall made an immediate impact by scoring a headed goal on his debut in a 1-1 draw against Lancaster City. Three days later, his strike partner Regan Linney netted a brace in a convincing 3-0 victory over Cheadle Heath Nomads, with Matty Kosylo adding a spectacular goal.
Manager Phil Parkinson expressed satisfaction with his team’s progress, particularly praising Nuttall for bringing a different dimension to their attack and highlighting his work ethic both on and off the pitch. Parkinson also lauded the contributions of midfielder Tom Crawford, noting his quality in supplying assists to Linney.
Looking ahead, Parkinson acknowledged tougher challenges lie ahead in their pre-season schedule but emphasized the positive work ethic shown by his players. He indicated that while he doesn’t expect many more signings, he anticipates the return of Olly Crankshaw and Isaac Marriott to bolster the squad in September.
Altrincham’s next test will be an away game against Warrington Town, continuing their preparations before their first home friendly against Salford City next week.
