Nottingham Forest are back in Premier League action on Saturday afternoon when Wolves make the trip to the City Ground.
Nuno Espirito Santo had to be brimming with optimism after the summer transfer market closed on Friday night.
But the focus has to return to the action on the pitch as Forest look to continue their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.
It was a busy end to the window for the Reds who were able to bring in Morato to add to their options. However, the standout piece of business was Forest’s loan signing of James Ward-Prowse from West Ham United.
However, neither of the two acquisitions was finished in time to play against Gary O’Neil’s team on Saturday.
Paul Merson predicts Nottingham Forest vs Wolves
It has been an impressive start to the season for the Reds who were able to take a point from their opener against Bournemouth.
But putting three points on the board last weekend against Southampton was huge for Nuno’s side who were able to rise into the top half of the table.
And they will be coming up against a Wolves side who are still in search of their first point this season after back-to-back defeats.
Speaking to Sportskeeda, Merson picked the winner, predicting that Forest would prevail 1-0. Merson is a Sky Sports pundit. “This football match is enormous.
Nottingham Forest managed to clinch a pretty significant win away to Southampton last time out. Conversely, Wolves have been having a lot of trouble. Against Chelsea, they were an utter failure, according to Merson. Pedro Neto is much missed by the Wolves.
They performed admirably the previous season, but their dismal conclusion to that run has sort of carried over into this one. Gary O’Neil needs an X-factor on his team, and they might be in danger if someone doesn’t step forward to fill that role.
I’m backing Nottingham Forest to get a win, but it will be a very tight game.”
Nottingham Forest need statement win vs Wolves
Of course, Forest are not going to go the season unbeaten so a loss today would not be the end of the world.
But there is more than three points on the line for the Reds with a win against Wolves taking them onto seven points.
That would mark a seriously impressive start and would be a real statement from Nuno’s side following a busy summer in the transfer window.
Next up for Forest after Wolves is a trip to Anfield where they will be facing a Liverpool side who will be heavily favoured to take the points.
Going into that game with seven points on the board could well take the pressure off Forest
