LATEST NEWS: Rangers interest in ‘top prospect’ Arsenal kid confirmed

Philippe Clement needs to stop Rangers from losing eight senior players—all internationals—for free over the past two summers.
Although there is still much work to be done, the manager is fully aware that he is up against it and has thus far closed deals for Jeffte, Oscar Cortes, and Leon Balogun.
Five senior players are going this summer, so experience will be needed to supplement the new talent. A journalist has said that the rumors of a recent Rangers transfer are only a backup plan.

Journalist clarifies Rangers transfer position on Reuell Walters

Ben Johnson and Reuell Walters, dubbed a “top prospect,” have been mentioned as potential Bosman departures from the Premier League to move closer to Ibrox.

These are both right-footed defenders who can play right back or center half.

Like a poor man’s Dujon Sterling.

James Tavernier, who has himself been the focus of transfer rumors, is the topic of a query that has been circulating over his future.
Where does the captain stand if Rangers are looking to sign younger, more athletic right-backs?

Tavernier is not going anywhere, according to Scott Burns of The Daily Record, after asserting that Walters is just a guy the Rangers like but isn’t a “priority.”

All of this might alter if the rumors coming from Saudi Arabia materialize into something more tangible; Tavernier has already made remarks on this matter.

“Well, there have certainly been rumors in the past.

Saudi Arabia has been mentioned a lot over the past year, and Connor has undoubtedly been included on the list based on what has just been said.

“I’m totally focused on what we need to do this season. I realize it’s football, there will always be rumors, and I have a two-year contract with the Rangers after this.

“And focus on the upcoming season; I believe the gaffer has stated that I play a significant role in his plans.

“Obviously, it’s nice to be a major part of plans, but I’m contracted to the Rangers, so Rangers is my only focus.”

Options for Philippe Clement with a reported interest in a right-back

Though there is growing sense that it would be convenient if the Gers boss had to consider offers for his captain, Philippe Clement is not going to force Tavernier out of the club.

Since Sterling has already joined the team, in the worst case scenario, Adam Devine might not have impressed sufficiently, necessitating the necessity for a backup to cover.

Both Walters and Johnson are desirable players who the teams would like to retain.

Given their reputation in the Premier League and their status as England young internationals, they are sure to get numerous offers.

Currently, though, it appears that none of those proposals will have Nils Koppen’s signature block attached to them
