Southampton continue to show interest in Chelsea forward Armando Broja, who is reportedly not in the plans at Stamford Bridge, as per Sky Sports.
Broja had a disappointing loan spell at Fulham last season, appearing only eight times without scoring. Despite this, several clubs, including Everton and AC Milan, have shown interest in the 22-year-old during this transfer window.
According to Sky Sports, Southampton is currently leading the race for Broja’s signature. The Saints, managed by Russell Martin, are keen to bolster their attacking options following the departure of Che Adams, whose contract expired. Broja, who spent the entire 2021/22 season at St. Mary’s, is seen as a potential addition to compete with Adam Armstrong and Ross Stewart. Chelsea is reportedly open to allowing their academy product to leave on a permanent deal.

Armando Broja, emerging from Chelsea’s academy at Cobham, has struggled to secure a consistent role in the Blues’ first team, leading to three separate loan spells. His most notable performances came during a stint at Vitesse Arnhem in 2019/20, where he scored eleven goals in 34 appearances. Subsequently, he impressed at Southampton, scoring nine goals and earning praise from manager Ralph Hasenhuttl, who labeled him as “dangerous.”
Despite Southampton’s interest in signing him permanently at that time, Broja opted to return to Chelsea and compete for a spot. However, his progress was significantly hampered by a cruciate ligament injury in December 2022, sidelining him for ten months and slowing his development. Now, facing an uncertain future at his childhood club, Everton and AC Milan are reportedly monitoring his situation closely.
Sky Sports suggests a potential return to Southampton could be in the cards, which might appeal to Broja given his previous success there. Chelsea has set an asking price of £35 million for the forward, though this figure could be negotiable if Southampton pursues the deal actively.
Russell Martin, keen to strengthen Southampton’s attacking options for the upcoming season, views Broja as a promising addition. Former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has praised Broja for his qualities, describing him as a young player with pace, strength, and a keen eye for goal.
