Walsall manager Mat Sadler has provided an update on defender Oisin McEntee, confirming that he is “close” to being available for selection after recovering from a calf injury. McEntee has been sidelined since the end of August, when he was forced off during the 2-1 victory over Cheltenham Town.
The 23-year-old, who is nearing 50 appearances for the club, had played five times this season before his injury. Having returned to full training last week, McEntee will now be pushing for a spot in the squad for Walsall’s upcoming game against Chesterfield.
Sadler said, “Oisin has trained again on Thursday, so he’s getting close to being available for selection. We’ll see for the weekend. He could make the squad, but there’s competition for places, with many players eager to be involved. It’s great to have him back, and we’ll assess whether this weekend comes too soon.”
