Luton to complete Josh King’s move

Luton Town have been told to sign 32-year-old forward Joshua King, with the Norwegian international currently a free agent after leaving Fenerbahçe at the end of the 2023/24 campaign

King’s six-year tenure with Bournemouth, together with his stint at Everton and Watford following his departure from the Cherries, have given him a wealth of English football knowledge. The 32-year-old started his career at Manchester United and later went on loan to play for Preston, Hull City, and Blackburn Rovers in the EFL before sealing a permanent deal with the latter team in 2013. He would undoubtedly be a valuable addition to the Championship.

Although the Norwegian international spent a brief period of the 2021–2022 season with the Hatters’ fierce rivals Watford, this hasn’t stopped calls for Luton to sign him as a possible replacement for both Joe Taylor and Cauley Woodrow. Woodrow has transfer interest from Derby County, while Taylor has interest from a number of clubs.

Luton Town told to sign Joshua King this summer

Finley Cannon, our fan commentator for Luton Town, thinks King would be a great acquisition on a free transfer but worries that wage demands would prevent them from signing him to a long-term contract. “We’re looking solid in defense and midfield with the recent signing of Liam Walsh and strong links to German midfielder Tom Krauss and Irish defender Mark McGuinness,” Finley remarked in an interview with Football League World.

Josh King is someone else we could sign, and I wouldn’t be opposed to that. He has been associated with us quite a bit in the past, and he offers distinct choices from what we now have in addition to his experience up front. He would take the place of Andros Townsend, who appears to be leaving soon; movements away have also been connected to Cauley Woodrow and Joe Taylor.

King would be a great addition, but I’m not sure how long we could sign him for because, in my opinion, his pay is very high in comparison to some of the other players in our team. Despite his advanced age, he would provide valuable insight during games and in the training environment. He would, in my opinion, offer an alternative to what we currently have.

Joshua King would score goals for Luton Town

King has scored 53 goals in 204 Premier League games, which is an amazing strike rate. If Luton Town were to sign him, there’s no doubt that he could find the back of the net. With just six goals in 100 appearances, the 32-year-old’s strike rate in the Championship is actually very low. However, it should be highlighted that the great bulk of King’s Championship games occurred when he was a small child.
