After ending his long Reading career, Holmes goes to Luton’s training facility to assess the level after leaving League One Royals.
Tom Holmes, the new defender for Luton, will train at Kenilworth Road for the final few weeks of the season with his new teammates to get a sense of how much of a step up from League One to his new surroundings.
After rising through the ranks of the Berkshire club, the 24-year-old ended his 16-year career with the Royals last month. He made the final of his 133 appearances for the team when he came off the bench during the 3-2 victory over Blackpool, his first game back after suffering a back injury.
After receiving a standing ovation from the Reading supporters for a player who had joined Town in January but had been loaned back to finish the season at Madejski Stadium, where he was only allowed to play in four more games, Holmes told the Reading Chronicle that he was excited about the new challenge and that he would be joining them right away to see how they would fare. I’ll prepare, spend a few weeks with them, and then prepare to go full steam ahead in the off-season.”
