Luton Town: Midfielder Reunites with Former Manager

In the last days of the month of May, Luton Town released their retained list and the name of Luke Berry was not on it.

I stated that the decision was arguably unavoidable, given Luke’s desire for regular first-team play and the Hatters’ inability to provide it.

I ended the piece by admitting that I had no idea where Berry would be playing in the 2023/2024 season, although I did mention Charlton Athletic because of the Nathan Jones link.

Yesterday, London News Online reported that Luke had really moved to South London to rejoin with a management who knows his game so well. Berry leaves Luton having scored in all five of England’s top divisions and winning three promotions with the Hatters, which is an impressive feat. His new contract with the Addicks is for two years with the option of a third, so Charlton Athletic could be his final stop in his career. Following Luke’s official departure, Hatters supporters acknowledged his commitment to the Luton cause on social media.
