Luton Town: The options are now Any Two or Any Three.

As the 2023–2024 season comes to an end, the relegation struggle is at last beginning to take form.

Everton’s triumph over their local rivals, Liverpool, combined with their victory over Nottingham Forest this past weekend seems to have ensured that the Toffees will play Premier League football next season, even if they were docked points twice.

Similarly, Sheffield United is in danger of dropping out of the EFL Championship this weekend if they don’t defeat Newcastle United at St. James Park following their loss to Manchester United.

Because there are still two relegation spots available, Burnley, Luton Town, and Nottingham Forest will join Sheffield United in the EFL Championship for the 2024–2025 season. However, the outcome of Forest’s upcoming points deduction appeal could affect the relegation spot.

So, with each team having FOUR games left to play, as shown below:

Burnley

• Manchester United (a)
• Newcastle United (h)
• Tottenham Hotspur (a)
• Nottingham Forest (h)

Luton Town

• Wolverhampton Wanderers (a)
• Everton (h)
• West Ham United (a)
• Fulham (h)

Nottingham Forest

• Manchester City (h)
• Sheffield United (a)
• Chelsea (h)
• Burnley (a)

Who do you reckon is doomed for the drop?

Before deciding, perhaps we should look at the recent form of the three clubs, looking back at the last six Premier Legue fixtures.

With 18 points available from those last six fixtures, the situation looks as thus:

• Burnley – 9 points
• Luton Town – 4 points
• Nottingham Forest – 6 points

Now, normally, 40 points is considered to be the safety target but, this season it could be as low as 34, so, taking a deep breath, who is your money on?
