An important date, a date that will play its own part in shaping our immediate future, is fast approaching.
This Wednesday, 26th June, the EFL will, simultaneously, release the EFL Championship, League One and League Two fixtures for the fast approaching 2024/2025 season.
With promotion and a quick return to the Premier League our aim, I, for one, can’t wait to see who we open the season against.
Preferably, I would prefer a home fixture, against one of the unfancied sides in the league, but I realise that there are no easy games in this combative and unforgiving league.
But it would be a great start to get the season under way with a win and the subsequent three points in the bag.
But, with 46 games to play, 23 at home and 23 away from home, we all know it is a marathon rather than a sprint.
Unfortunately, when the fixtures are released we all know that it is only a sequence with Sky Sports set to wreak havoc allocating games to their television schedule for the benefit of the millions of armchair supporters.
But, given a choice, who would be your preferred opposition for our opening fixture of the 2024/2025 season?
