“Maybe his time is done” – Lee Nicholls exit mooted from Huddersfield Town along with Josh Koroma

FLW’s Huddersfield Town fan pundit has given his verdict on which players he would like the club to sell this summer.

This post is a part of the “Terrace Talk” series from Football League World, whereby our FLW Fan Pundits provide their personal thoughts on the newest breaking news, teams, players, managers, possible signings, and more.

Huddersfield Town, who were demoted from the Championship, are getting ready for life in League One.

The Terriers’ season was extremely disappointing, and after taking over for Darren Moore in February, Andre Breitenreiter was unable to maintain the team in the Championship. As a result, the team will play in League One for the first time since 2012.

Championship standings 2023/24
Team P GD Pts
17 Stoke City 46 -11 56
18 QPR 46 -11 56
19 Blackburn Rovers 46 -14 53
20 Sheffield Wednesday 46 -24 53
21 Plymouth Argyle 46 -11 51
22 Birmingham City (R) 46 -15 50
23 Huddersfield Town (R) 46 -29 45
24 Rotherham United (R) 46 -52 27

Less than a week after being demoted, Breitenreiter departed the John Smith’s Stadium, and Michael Duff, a former manager of Barnsley and Swansea City, has been named manager of Town.

With players like Jordan Rhodes, Connor Mahoney, Yuta Nakayama, and Brahima Diarra leaving at the conclusion of their contracts, Duff has already started his summer rebuilding, and more high-profile departures may occur in the upcoming months.

Huddersfield is reportedly asking for £10 million for midfielder Jack Rudoni, which is thought to have discouraged Coventry City from moving forward. Meanwhile, they have set a £750,000 price tag on winger Sorba Thomas, according to writer Alan Nixon.

The Terriers might lose some of their best players if they are relegated, and Rudoni and Thomas might not be the only ones drawing attention this summer.

Huddersfield Town could sell Lee Nicholls and Josh Koroma this summer

Although the team does not have many sellable assets, Huddersfield Town supporter Grahame Rayner of FLW believes they should try to make a profit this summer on goalie Lee Nicholls and forward Josh Koroma.

After Luton Town’s elevation to the Premier League last summer, Nicholls was connected to the team, but the move never happened. This season, in 38 appearances across all competitions, he has seven clean sheets for the Terriers.

Although Koroma started every game for Town this season, he only managed to score six goals and dish out two assists in 40 games across all competitions. Graeme will be pleased to see the 25-year-old replace Nicholls when he leaves.

It’s challenging, according to Graeme.

The term ‘cash in on’ implies real assets, of which we don’t have many, other from perhaps Lee Nicholls.

“He had a fantastic season the year we advanced to the play-offs, but after an injury the previous season, he didn’t seem to be the same.

“Towards the conclusion of the season, he made a few soft goals; perhaps his career is over, but with the memories of that campaign, he might still be a valuable asset.

“Aside from that, if someone wanted Josh Koroma, I’d say maybe only him.

There are rumors that he is connected to Millwall.

Josh Koroma frequently uses flattery to trick people; although he performs well when he comes off the bench, his starting performance is lackluster.

“So if anybody fancies him, I’d be quite happy for him to go for a decent fee, and a decent fee for him is realistically anything upwards of £500,000.”
