Michael Ball shares what he’s been told about James Tarkowski at Everton

James Tarkowski, who already had safety guaranteed, reportedly played through discomfort and received injections for Everton, according to Michael Ball. The Toffees defender was a vital member of the side that, with three games remaining, ensured the club’s Premier League membership for the next season. The team finished 15th in the top tier despite having eight points taken away from them.

Ball stated in his Liverpool Echo column on May 21 that he was informed the vice captain needed injections to play in the team’s final games, which is why he picked him as the player of the season instead of Jordan Pickford, even though the captain had secured safety with games remaining. “James Tarkowski, in my opinion, has assumed Seamus Coleman’s position as the team’s leader on the field. He advised us to maintain our professionalism after staying up late, and we complied,” he stated. “He recently gave birth to a child, and from what I’ve heard, he’s been messing around with injections to risk his health.

He had the option to put his flip-flops on three weeks ago and take a break before the upcoming season, but instead he has kept up his good work and forged a strong center-back partnership with Jarrad Branthwaite. In my opinion, he simply wins if we consider the bigger picture and the personal struggles he has faced.

At the end of the season, the games meant nothing, but to him, they meant everything. I think that puts him ahead of Pickford.

James Tarkowski is an Everton fans dream player

It’s unlikely that the Everton supporters would not unanimously choose Tarkowski’s mentality to impart on the rest of the team if they were assembled and asked to choose one player.

Having having been demoted, there were some doubts about the transaction when he joined on a free transfer from Burnley two summers prior. However, after Sean Dyche took over in January of the following year, things began to look much better since he could assist the rest of the team in adjusting to the manager’s requests and expectations.

In Seamus Coleman’s absence this season, he assumed captaincy and guided the side to an outstanding year. Even better, he completed it during a time when he didn’t have to, and he now merits a summer off to recuperate and get ready to rejoin the team as a vital member the following season.
