Leeds United faced a challenging summer transfer window, marked by the departure of several key players from Elland Road, including Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter, Archie Gray, and Glen Kamara. Although the club raised over £100 million in transfer fees, the number of incoming players left manager Daniel Farke feeling underwhelmed.
In the final week of the transfer window, Leeds signed Largie Ramazani, Manor Solomon, Ao Tanaka, and Isaac Schmidt. However, fans were disappointed by missed opportunities, particularly in relation to Jonathan Rowe, who had previously impressed at Norwich City before moving to Ligue 1 side Marseille.
Reports indicate that Leeds made two bids for Rowe, but neither met Norwich’s £15 million asking price. Since joining Marseille, Rowe has quickly made an impact, scoring an “incredible” late winner in a 3-2 victory against Lyon on September 22. Despite limited playing time at Marseille, Rowe’s talent shone through with his stunning goal.
While Ramazani and Solomon have been solid additions, neither can quite match the level of Summerville. Farke might have transformed Rowe into a key player at Leeds, but the club ultimately decided against meeting the financial demands to bring him to West Yorkshire.
In other Leeds United news, Farke faces a tough decision regarding one of his regulars, especially after a recent match against Cardiff City, where the player lost nine duels and was dispossessed four times.
