National League visit added to Wigan Athletic pre-season schedule as part of weekend double-header

Wigan Athletic’s preseason itinerary now includes a visit from National League team AFC Fylde, bringing the total number of games in July to four.

In addition to the friendlies with Accrington Stanley, Chorley, and Blackburn Rovers that Latics have previously confirmed, they have now added a fourth match to their weekend doubleheader.

The team’s preseason schedule will begin on Saturday, July 13 (2pm) with a trip to Accrington Stanley, who are coached by former Latics player and first-team coach John Doolan. The match will last two hours at Wham Stadium.

Wigan Athletic have now confirmed four pre-season friendlies for July

On Friday, July 19, 2024, at 7:30 p.m., Shaun Maloney’s team will visit Victory Park to play National League North rival Chorley FC. After that, they will have time to rest and travel to the Fylde Coast, where they will play AFC Fylde at Mill Farm, with a 3:00 p.m. kickoff, less than twenty-four hours later.

In July’s final match, Wigan Athletic will play Championship team Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 3 p.m. at the newly renamed The Brick Community Stadium.

The team said in a statement that ticket information for every preseason game will be confirmed when it is appropriate.

In addition, the team has stated that more preseason games will be revealed in the upcoming weeks in preparation for the 2024–25 League One season, which is scheduled to start the weekend of August 10–11.

As part of their preseason training, Wigan Athletic will visit Hungary again this summer. Specifically, in the first week of July, Maloney’s team will stay for a week at the Hungarian national team’s residence.
