Kyle Naughton has signed a new contract that will see him bring up a decade at Swansea City.
The defender, 35, has put pen to paper on a new one-year deal through to the end of June 2025, having first joined the Swans from Tottenham in January 2015.
Since then Naughton has racked up over 300 appearances for the club, and was in a fine vein of form before a hamstring injury suffered against Cardiff City brought his 2023-24 season to a premature conclusion.
A product of the Sheffield United academy, Naughton signed for the Swans from Spurs and he went on to help the club to a best Premier League finish of eighth over the final months of the 2014-15 campaign.
The former England Under-21 international had spells with the Blades, Gretna, Middlesbrough, Leicester and Norwich before making his switch to Spurs.
He spent five-and-a-half years at White Hart Lane where he and Kyle Walker were identified as exciting emerging talents at full-back.
“His professionalism and application have been praised by a succession of Swansea bosses, including head coach Luke Williams, and he has captained the side during his time in SA1.
“He’s a thoroughbred. That’s why he played in the Premier League because there’s no free ticket, you have to have the talent and you have to work hard,” Williams had said of Naughton earlier this season.
“He’s an athletic boy. His brain is so good that he can play without getting into too many difficult situations.
“What a player he is. He is so gifted. He makes football look simple at times. We will play on tough pitches, or against aggressive opposition, but he is so calm and has so much quality. He sees things that other players wouldn’t be able to see.”
