New twist emerges at Crystal Palace regarding Dougie Freedman, bad news

Regarding Dougie Freedman, a new development has surfaced, and it is not good for Crystal Palace.Manchester United and Newcastle have expressed interest in the Glaswegian after he demonstrated his eye for a deal by making moves for Ebere Eze, Michael Olise, Marc Guehi, Adam Wharton, and Daniel Munoz, to mention a few.

Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox were selected from Southampton and Newcastle, respectively, seemingly ending the Red Devils’ threat.

But the Premier League fast-food franchise raised an ugly head when Newcastle went after Freedman to take Ashworth’s post.

Fans were pacified by a report from Alan Nixon of The Sun, which stated that Crystal Palace’s transfer guru had no intention of leaving Selhurst Park.

But now there’s a new development involving Dougie Freedman.

Fans of Crystal Palace have bad news regarding Dougie Freedman.

According to a story from the Telegraph, Freedman is eager to take over as Newcastle’s director of football, and the Scot pleased the Magpies during an interview.

The 49-year-old is reported to have made a lasting impact on the Newcastle leadership with his “straight talking” style and “ambitious vision” for recruitment at St. James’ Park.

The Telegraph also notes that Freedman can still lose out to Johannes Spors for the position, since the German made a strong impression in the interview and has greater market expertise in Europe.

The 41-year-old has previously excelled in German football while playing for RB Leipzig alongside Ralf Rangnick.

Concerns regarding commitment

Even though there was a ray of light for Crystal Palace supporters with Spors, the fact that Freedman travelled for the interview suggests he is no longer fully committed to the Eagles and is more than willing to quit Crystal Palace.

That will undoubtedly cause a snag in our transfer plans, since the Scotsman might be holding off on hiring Oliver Glasner in case he wants to bring the same players to Newcastle.

It goes without saying that under a Saudi Arabian government, Freedman would have a far bigger budget on Tyneside, but this is still very disappointing news.

The player who played for Crystal Palace and scored 85 goals left us when things were going well, oddly leaving for Bolton in 2012 while we were leading the Championship.

History could repeat itself now, as we start another upward curve under Glasner.
