The big Irishman has come into the fold since arriving at Parkhead in January and managed to put himself about, all whilst bringing much needed and vital goals to the team. A record of seven goals in 13 games is a decent return by anyone’s estimation and he’s certainly did what it says on the tin.
The question mark still lingers over his head though, as it could be argued he has tailed off ever so slightly in recent weeks and not still grabbing the bull by the horns. Many will argue, ‘well he can’t be producing the magic everyweek’, whilst there are others who would say, ‘well hold on a minute, that’s his job – isn’t it?’.
It’s leaving a lot of the support in a considerable quandary about signing up the big man full-time at the end of the campaign and with good reason.
With a whole host of players either needing moved out on loan to develop or just plain cut from the sqaud, we have a considerable rebuild awaiting us, regardless of the title’s destination.
Former Celtic midfielder and club legend, Peter Grant, has now waded into the debate on the Go Radio Football Show and made the claim that Idah is in fact technically better than our old striker Moussa Dembele.
It’s a bold statement from Grant and is certain to create debate amongst the fanbase. When asked straight out if he would sign Adam, the pundit said: “For £5m? I think so because it is very difficult to get any striker for that type of money. I know he’s not a number nine, but Sammie Smzodics has been scoring a lot of goals, and now you are talking about £15-20m for him at Blackburn who are sitting near the bottom of the league.”
He added: “We know what Idah can do and what he offers. He is hungry to score goals and is young. I think if he keeps taking the chances he can get better and more clinical, and you could end up getting big money again. Look what happened with Moussa Dembele. And I think he (Idah) is technically better than Moussa. They are different types of players but technique wise I think he brings that to his game as well.”
