NEWS UPDATE: ‘Ridiculous’ – King fumes after Nottm Forest development on Everton controversy

Bryan King has called for ex-players and managers to be involved with VAR decisions after the recent controversy surrounding Everton and Nottingham Forest.

The ex-Everton scout sees no point in the VAR audio from the Toffees’ 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest (21 April) being released, claiming that nothing is going to change either way.

It comes after a report via The Independent (24 April) revealed that the PGMOL had extended an offer for Forest to hear the audio privately after the club had asked for it to be made public.

The Reds have accepted the offer although King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – feels that this decision won’t make any difference, with a much bigger change to VAR needed.

“It isn’t going to change the result, what happened happened, “ King said.

Everton Sean Dyche

“They need to either stick by VAR or abolish it, and at the moment they’re not understanding the way it works as far as I can see.

“All it is doing is causing more problems, and my biggest bug is that referees in the VAR room are making the same mistakes as referees on the pitch.

“They need to get ex-players and managers as part of these teams, people who have played or been associated with the game.

“To playback an audio regarding three penalty decisions, what is that going to do? Are they going to replay the game and stop it in those crucial moments? That is how ridiculous this all is.”

Everton and Sean Dyche will have moved on from Nottingham Forest scandal

Sean Dyche and his players have likely already put the Nottingham Forest saga behind them.

Following their big 2-0 win against Merseyside rivals Liverpool (24 April), things are looking up for the Toffees, with the club now seemingly safe from relegation.

However, it might not be long until similar decisions like the ones which went against Forest go against Everton, and it is clear that somethings needs to be done.

In other Everton news, King was left stunned after what Dominic Calvert-Lewin did to one Liverpool star.
