‘No brainer’ – Four Lads share Rangers transfer update after what they heard from Ibrox

Connor Barron may not be interested in a transfer move from Aberdeen to Rangers amid interest from Serie A clubs, according to Stevie Clifford of Four Lads Had A Dream.

Clifford explained that Barron may see his future going similarly to Lewis Ferguson who moved to Italy and is being linked with Juventus, or Aaron Hickey who did the same and is now at Brentford.

Barron was singled out as a potential signing for the Ibrox club as it was labelled a “no-brainer” but concerns around whether he wants to make the move have emerged.

Speaking on The Rangers Review [9 April], Clifford shared: “I’m not sure he’s interested, from what I’ve heard. I’m sure he sees his future as being like Lewis Ferguson and Aaron Hickey who have gone abroad and made big moves off the back of that.

“That might be a non-starter. Connor Barron is a no-brainer in terms of coming in for Ryan Jack to replace him like-for-like.

“He’s got everything we want from a young Scottish player. Maybe something is going on behind the scenes where we can’t get him, or maybe we’re waiting.”

Could Rangers sign Connor Barron from Aberdeen?

Barron is out of contract at Aberdeen this summer, leading many to suggest Rangers should pounce to secure his signature on a free transfer – although Aberdeen would be due around £500,000 as a solidarity payment for the move.

However, interest from Italy appears to have piqued his interest ahead of a move to Ibrox to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Ferguson and Hickey and continue the trend of promising Scottish footballers moving to Italy.

Derek Ferguson recently raised concerns about Barron’s injury history, suggesting it may have stunted his development at Pittodrie, although he could not believe the midfielder hadn’t been tied down to a long-term deal already.Barron did see last season derailed at the start and end by two significant injuries, and since he’s been mooted as a potential replacement for Ryan Jack this summer, that like-for-like move will not want to include Jack’s injury record.
