After a good spell at Celtic, Adam Idah, a striker on loan from Norwich City, is reportedly very close to leaving Carrow Road permanently.
The center-forward, who was born in Cork, played with the Canaries for the first part of the 2023–24 season but was unable to establish himself as David Wagner’s regular starter. Josh Sargent’s injury early in the season gave Idah greater playing time, but after the US international got back from the sidelines, Idah was once again benched.
Due to a brief dip in form in the middle of the season, the 23-year-old was consequently moved out on loan to Celtic by former Leicester City and Swansea City head coach Brendan Rodgers, who was eager to reinforce his attacking unit. Idah scored eight goals and provided two assists in just eight games for the European heavyweights, swiftly becoming a fan favourite at Parkhead.
Moreover, during this half-season stay in Scotland, the Irishman scored some crucial goals for Celtic, notably the game-winning goal in stoppage time on Saturday in the Scottish Cup Final against fierce rivals Rangers, which sealed a 1-0 victory.
Idah hinted that it gives him “confidence” to hear that the club wants him when he was asked about suggestions that he could make a permanent move from Norwich City to Celtic in an interview back in April.
When you hear that the club might be interested in you, it certainly boosts your confidence. It gives you a true sense of belonging to this club. I’m quite appreciative to be here.
Maybe this summer, Idah will receive his wish.In a story published late on Monday night, The Daily Record stated that Rodgers’ desire to sign the Republic of Ireland international in the upcoming months is something the Celtic board is eager to do. According to earlier rumours, the Canaries are hoping to pay him almost £5 million for his services.
Having made his Norwich City debut over five years prior, Idah was a rising star full of promise. Regretfully, he never quite settled into a starting role at Carrow Road, which has raised concerns about his future and grown even more since David Wagner was fired as head coach.
The Irish forward will be eager to stay at Celtic Park for the upcoming campaign, as he looks to have finally found his place in Scotland. Now, in order to fulfil the striker’s ambitions, the two teams must agree on a price.
